October: Candid Portrait / Motion

This months challenge topics brought together two interesting topics. Candid Portrait asked us to think carefully about what sets it apart from its close cousins: the posed formality of a traditional portrait, or the wide social canvas of street photography. A candid portrait zeros in on a specific person in an unguarded moment — not the street, not the crowd, but them. Motion, on the other hand, was pure playground. Whether through intentional camera movement or a slow shutter left open just a beat too long, the results are unpredictable by design — and that’s exactly the point. Sometimes the blur becomes the image.
