September: Environmental Portrait / Landscape

One year of FotoKlub. Our September meeting marked the first anniversary, and we celebrated it with a full house: 15 people, a wonderful mix of new and well known faces.

We started with some basics of photography, looking at the exposure triangle and camera modes. A good refresher for some, new ground for others, and a topic that sparked plenty of questions.

Then we shared our images for this month’s challenges. There were great contributions all around, including images from some of our first time visitors. Landscape brought us impressions from all over the world, and it was a perfect fit for our photo walk to Look Park the weekend before.

Environmental Portrait created some confusion, so we talked about what sets an environmental portrait apart from a classic portrait. The word environmental threw a few people off, which also gave us some interesting nature images. A happy accident.

Looking back at this first year, I am thankful for the wonderful group of people who come together every month, share their passion, and show the courage to put their work in front of others. I am looking forward to seeing what the next year will bring.
