April’s FotoFokus opened with a conversation about color filters and how they shape contrast in black and white images — a topic that found its way into the submissions in more ways than one. Rural Life brought the warmer weather outside: members explored the local countryside as it comes back to life, and a few took the theme further afield, with impressions from travels to Italy and Costa Rica. Patterns, the more abstract of the two, gave people room to play — and it showed. The images reflected a real awareness of contrast and tone, a fitting echo of what we had just been discussing.
