The Day
The FotoMarathon takes place over six hours. All twelve themes are shared with participants at the start. The first image has to be created after 1:00 pm, the last before 7:00 pm.
Submissions
- Photos must be captured and submitted in topical order.
- Only one photo per theme can be submitted, but multiple captures are allowed — only the submitted image is judged.
- You must submit a total of 13 images: The first images has to include your participant number clearly visible, then the photo for each topic.
- The completed collection must be uploaded by 9:00 pm (two hours after the official end).
- Files must not be renamed.
- All images must be submitted as JPEG. Combined RAW + JPEG capture is permitted but only JPEGS can be submitted.
Your Camera
- All twelve photos must be taken with the same camera. Lenses may be swapped.
- Analog cameras are not supported at this time.
- Mobile phone users: set capture format to “Most Compatible.”
Image Alterations
In-camera and in-phone adjustments made before pressing the shutter are allowed. This includes analog filters, software filters applied before capture, use of flash, and tripods.
No alterations after the shutter are permitted — including cropping, color adjustments, or any other post-processing.
Categories
Two categories are open for entry, based on age on the day of the event:
- Junior — 18 and under
- Adult — 19 and older
Participation
Individual sign-up only. Collaboration with other participants while shooting is welcome and encouraged.
Honor Code
This is a friendly competition, so have fun and don’t cheat. Treat your subjects and fellow participants with respect. Participants found to be in violation of the honor code may be disqualified without recourse.
